Illinois University Council for Career and Technical Education
Awards for Innovation
2008-2009
Grant Overview
The goal of this project was to increase the use of effective assessments in Illinois CTE classrooms.
One objective was to conduct a literature review of current research on assessment, especially as it pertained to CTE, or as it could be applied to CTE. An annotated bibliography of this literature review is available on this website.
A second objective was to highlight and share effective assessments being used by Illinois career and technical educators. Three members of Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education submitted an example of the assessments they use in their classrooms. These assessments are also available on this website.
Mark Hulbert, Assistant Director, Grundy Area Vocational Centers submitted several assessments being used by educators at Grundy Area Vocational Center.
Matthew Gawlik , Hinsdale South High School submitted a kitchen project assessment.
Sheila Mecklenburg, Thornton High School submitted a legume project assessment.
I would like to thank the Illinois University Council for Career and Technical Education as well as Mark Hulbert, Matthew Gawlik , and Sheila Mecklenburg for making this work possible.
