Career and Technical Education Certification Programs

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is the only institution in the state of Illinois to offer teacher education programs in all areas of career and technical education:

These teacher certification programs are fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and by the Illinois State Teacher Certification Board.  Upon completion of the specific program, including student teaching, the student receives the Initial Teaching Certificate (grades 6-12).

When you choose to major in Workforce Education and Development, you open up a menu of exciting options in public career and technical education programs and private sector training and development departments.  Workforce Education and Development combines your past work experiences, if any, with an innovative classroom environment to prepare you for positions in public and private educational institutions.
