ETD students must document a minimum of 15 semester hours of work experience credit to graduate.* In the majority of cases, the documentation appears in the form of a letter(s) from the individual’s employer or immediate supervisor. The letter should meet the following criteria:

• An original letter (as opposed to a copy) typed on the employer’s letterhead.
• Current date included.
• Addressed to the ETD Coordinator
• Format:
• First paragraph: Name and social security number of the individual for which the letter is being written plus 1) the number of years of full time employment, 2) number of clock hours of employment or 3) a combination of years of full time work experience and clock hours of employment.
• Second paragraph: Description of duties.
• Third paragraph: Recommendation from the employer or supervisor.
• Signature of the employer/supervisor.
