The Department of Workforce Education and Development
is one of the leading units on the Southern Illinois University Carbondale campus
that attracts international students. Upon the completion of undergraduate degrees,
many international students continue graduate studies in the Department of Workforce
Education and Development at the masters and/or doctoral levels.

Planning and evaluating workforce preparation and upgrading
of programs at all levels in public/private educational settings

Strategic planning and policy review regarding manpower planning
Analyzing occupations, career alternatives and tasks:

Developing curricula, with supporting teaching laboratories,
educational technology and audio-visual materials.

Designing, equipping and operating training facilities.

Leadership role in the development and implementation of national
cooperative/experiential training and awarding credit for such experiences.

Cooperative government, education, industrial linkages.

Delivery of educational services to international clientele
at various locations in the United States and throughout the world.

Upgrading and developing human resources.

Designing, developing and implementing training programs.

Training and development of educators, administrators, and managers
for both the public and private sectors (national and international).

Developing and implementing innovative industrial skills training
schemes.

Developing monitoring and evaluation systems for technical schools
and institutions.
