Refer to Manual pages 147-176 to learn how to show
basic elements of a table and how to present data in specific kinds of tables.
However, be aware that the spacing for tables and the placement of table titles
illustrated in these pages are for the copy manuscript style. In a final
manuscript approach (a) the table is centered on the page; (b) the
title is centered above the table; (c) tables are numbered consecutively in
the order in which they are first mentioned in the text and are identified by
the word "Table" and an arabic numeral; and (d) single-spacing is used for the
title, headings, text, and notes. Double-spacing may be used in a table at the
discretion of the writer to improve readability.
