Curricular Options

Students can satisfy the requirements of the ETD specialization in two ways. Graduates of A.A. or A.S. programs, or students who have completed or are in the process of completing the SIU University Core requirements, would select the Regular ETD option. Students who have graduated with an A.A.S. or other occupationally oriented degree, would opt for the Capstone option

Following is a discussion of the course requirements of the ETD specialization. The concentration is comprised of a University Core Curriculum, Professional Sequence, Technical/Professional Training and Work Experience. Also, Senior Institution and Residence (University requirements) are included in the discussion of the Regular ETD option.

Capstone Option

The totals represent the minimum number of semester hours required of each ETD Capstone student for graduation. As with the Regular option, the totals represent the minimum number of semester hours required of an ETD Capstone student for graduation.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Capstone option, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Have an earned A.A.S. or other occupationally-oriented degree;
  • Have a 2.25 or better GPA in the Associate’s degree program;
  • Apply for the Capstone option before or during the first semester in the ETD specialization; and
  • Be able to complete the ETD course requirements in 60 semester hours or less.
