The specialty area should be chosen based on the student's background, interests, and future career goals. Examples of position titles within the specialty areas are as follows:

Management

  • Dean of workforce education
  • Assistant superintendent of workforce education
  • Department chair
  • Supervisor of workforce education
  • Director, public employment and training programs
  • Director or coordinator of personnel development
  • Training director in business/industry

Professional Development

  • Professor of in-service training management for postsecondary institutions

Research

The designated specialty area provides a referent to aid the student in selection of supportive studies, research tools, internship, and research topic. For example, if management is chosen, supportive studies courses related to management would be selected.
