To apply to the Ph.D. in Education program with a concentration in
Workforce Education and Development, the following steps should be completed.
No application will be considered until all information is received.
1.
Complete the online application for graduate study at http://www.gradschool.siuc.edu/applygrad.htm.
The major is Workforce Education and Development - Ph.D.

NOTE: SIUC requires a $50.00 nonrefundable
application fee before an application will be considered for admission. You can submit this fee by check, money order
or credit card. Within the application
process, you will choose which method of payment you will use. If paying by credit card, please wait for the
approval screen before proceeding to the submission of the Graduate School
Application. If paying by check or money
order, make payable to SIUC and send to the address listed below.
2.
Complete the Department's online application at http://www.wed.siu.edu/Public/Graduate/phd/Apply.htm
3.
Requests transcripts from each college or university
(other than SIUC) attended be sent to the address below. No unofficial
transcripts will be accepted; no application will be processed until all
official transcripts are received.
4.
Request references from three professionals (two must be from outside the Department) who can attest
to your potential as a doctoral student and to your ability to conduct research
using this rating form: http://www.wed.siu.edu/Public/Graduate/phd/Application_Rating.htm
5.
Request the testing agency to send a copy of your Graduate
Record Exam (GRE) test scores (taken within the last five years) directly
to the Office of Graduate Programs in Workforce Education and
Development. To be considered for admission, applicant must have the minimum scores of:
- Combined score for verbal and quantitative of at least 800
- Score for analytical writing of at least 3.5

For international students, also submit the financial statement form (http://www.siu.edu/gradschl/forms.htm,
under Admission Forms go to Financial Statement for Graduate International Students)
and TOEFL score (requirements on page 7 of the online brochure at
http://wed.siu.edu/Public/Graduate/International Brochure Fall 2007.pdf)
