The department employs more than 40 full-time faculty members (about half of
whom hold graduate
faculty status) with backgrounds in allied health, agriculture, industry,
technical education, business, family and consumer science, and training and
development. The faculty is competent, experienced, and actively involved in
teaching, research, and service. Faculty are committed to providing a scholarly
and professional environment for academic study and willingly share their time
and expertise with students.
Employment Opportunities
Workforce Education and Development graduates qualify for a wide variety of
professional and technical positions. Department alumni find employment in
public education at the secondary, postsecondary, and higher education levels
and in public and private education and training positions in allied health,
agriculture, business education, family and consumer science, industrial
technology, and many other fields. In business environments, graduates work in
technical training, hospital administration, human resources, training and
development, and related fields. Many graduates pursue careers in the military
or other branches of government in a wide range of professional positions such
as administrative support specialists, instructors, law enforcement and security
personnel, and in dozens of technical specialties. In public education,
graduates are high school and community college business, computer science,
family and consumer science, dental hygiene, and automotive instructors. In
short, WED provides theoretical and applied knowledge and skills for
instructional, training and development, and supervisory/managerial roles in the
public and private sectors.
